The theme of this monthโs session is community engagement and youth activism. We believe itโs important to lift and empower the voices of the youth, so they can become the leaders of tomorrow.
Behind the Gretaโs and Malalโs of the world, there is a Sakariya Hirsi in the underserved communities of Stockholm, fighting to put gun violence on the political agenda.ย
Out of pure frustration Sakariya created the campaign Kollektiv sorg (translation: Collective grief) together with Amnesty International to put pressure on the leaders to do more regarding the escalating gun violence in Sweden.
Through art, poetry and personal stories, the campaign aims to humanize people in the area affected by the violence, raise awareness of the mental trauma it causes and highlight the
tragedy with the number of young people who die.
