In honour of women’s history month, unmute is hosting its 3rd zoom session on the 29th of March at 4pm CET. This session will address the gender gap in the tech programming industry. Due to prejudices and male dominated structures, women are still underrepresented in this field.

Our guest presentation will be held by two representatives of the German university group she.codes@KIT: Co-founder Lena Stempfle and workshop coach Caroline Küppers. she.codes@KIT aims at inspiring young people and especially girls for computer science and technical topics and to be a role model for them. Since October 2019, they conducted many successful programming workshops – by now, about 200 young people have participated.

Studies have shown that one of the main reasons women aren’t choosing tech is the lack of role models. Therefore, in collaboration with all unmute participants, we will explore how to get role models right for gender diversity in technology.
